The Corridor

The mountains rise on both sides, dark and heavily textured, leaving only a narrow corridor of sky and water between them.

And yet directly above, the light source holds its position with complete certainty, and below it the water carries its reflection in a long, unbroken path through the canyon.

Heavy, tactile darkness on either side, and between them, a corridor of luminous green sky and water alive with reflected light.

The light does not negotiate with the darkness around it.

It simply remains.
